SUMMARY:Atlas Trek 2026 - Kenya with Jason Leonard
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2026 Kenya Challenge\n \n \n \n \n \n Trek to Kenya with Jason Leonard in aid of The Atlas Foundation\n \n \n \n \n \n 14 - 17 October 2026\n \n \n \n \n \n Come along on our four-day journey across Kenya\, from the capital\, Nairobi\, to the Indian Ocean coast\, combining adventure with impact. This expedition offers the chance to see two of Atlas’ projects in action\, trek on one of Kenya’s lesser-known peaks\, and cross the country by 4×4\, all while raising funds for The Atlas Foundation. \nHighlights\n\nVisit Atlas Foundation projects in Nairobi\, including the Atlas DigiBus mobile digital classroom.\nTrek Mount Kasigau – a full-day hike that’s challenging with varied terrain and stunning views.\nCross Kenya overland by 4×4\, from city to savannah to sea.\nVisit Atlas Foundation projects on the coast\, seeing how sport and education work hand in hand.\nExperience Kenya’s diverse landscapes while directly supporting The Atlas Foundation.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Trip Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Day 1Day 2Day 3Day 4Day 5\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Arrival in Nairobi\nFly from London to Nairobi. Arrive in the evening and transfer to the Hotel. Settle in\, meet your fellow team members\, and prepare for the journey ahead. \n \n \n \n \n \n Atlas Projects in Nairobi & Journey to Tsavo\nAfter breakfast\, you’ll visit Atlas Foundation projects in Nairobi to see how sport and education are changing lives. The highlight is the Atlas DigiBus – a mobile digital classroom that takes technology and digital-skills training directly to children who would otherwise miss out. You’ll meet members of the local team and hear how access to digital learning is opening new opportunities for young people in Nairobi’s communities. It’s a clear example of Atlas’s mission in action: practical\, community-driven support that gives children the tools to build better futures through sport and education. \nAfter the visit\, you’ll travel south by 4×4 toward Tsavo\, crossing open country and passing through small roadside towns along the way. Arrive at your lodge by early evening\, check in\, and team dinner before turning in for an early start the next day. \n \n \n \n \n \n Trek Mount Kasigau & Onward to the Coast\nAn early start for the Mount Kasigau trek\, a rewarding challenge that takes around six to seven hours in total. Rising to about 1\,640 metres\, the mountain stands alone between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks\, offering far-reaching views in every direction. \nThe trek begins on open savannah scrub before climbing gradually into more rocky terrain. Higher up\, the slopes are covered in cool montane forest — a welcome change of shade and temperature as the altitude increases. The route is varied and engaging throughout. Along the way\, it’s common to see birds\, butterflies\, and the occasional monkey moving through the trees. The summit gives a panoramic view across the Tsavo plains and\, on clear days\, all the way to the Indian Ocean and towards the snowy peak of Kilimanjaro. \nAfter the descent\, the team continues by 4×4 toward the coast\, reaching Shanzu in the late afternoon. The day ends at a beach hotel\, with time to relax\, recover\, and enjoy dinner together to celebrate the climb and the journey across Kenya so far. \n \n \n \n \n \n Atlas Projects in Mombassa & Departure\nIn the morning\, visit Atlas Foundation projects in and around Shanzu. These initiatives use sport to open up education and opportunity for children growing up in poverty. Weekly sports sessions are combined with mentoring\, nutrition\, and learning support\, helping young people stay in school and build confidence. You’ll meet some of the local coaches\, participants and their families to see how these community-led programmes are changing lives at a grassroots level. It’s a fitting conclusion to your time in Kenya\, and a chance to connect your fundraising to real\, long-term impact. \nIn the afternoon\, transfer to Mombasa for your evening flight home. \n \n \n \n \n \n Arrival in London\nArrive back in London with lasting memories of Kenya’s landscapes\, people\, and the projects your support has helped make possible. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Organisation and Leadership\n \n \n \n \n \n This expedition is highly supported by a team of mountain specialists. Monix Adventures has been organising and leading specialised expeditions for more than 8 years\, and many of their local guides have hundreds of ascents to their name. \n \n \n \n \n \n Recommended Flights\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n These are our suggested flights which are the best fit for our itinerary\, and private transfers for our team are included. \nTeams are usually split throughout Business Class and Economy\, so please book whichever you’re most comfortable with. \nIf you wish to arrive or depart at different times\, please contact us so that we can arrange additional services as required. \nIf you would like to extend your stay in Kenya\, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist with further travel. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Included\n \n \n \n \n \n \nPrivate Airport transfer from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport\, Nairobi\nWelcome meeting\n1 night Nairobi Accommodation\n4×4 transport from Nairobi to Tsavo to Mombassa\n1 night Tsavo Accomodation\n1 night Mombassa Accomodation\nMeals on trek\nPrivate Airport transfer to Moi International Airport\, Mombassa\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Excluded\n \n \n \n \n \n \nFlights\nEntry visas\nBeverages\nEquipment\nTravel insurance\nTips\nAnything not listed as included\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Funding Requirements\n \n \n \n \n \n \nWe would like each trekker to commit to raising at least £3\,500\nA deposit of £500 will be required to secure your place\nThe balance will be due before departure if you have not reached your target\nDeposits and full balances are refundable after you have reached the minimum fundraising target\n\n \n Create my JustGiving fundraising page\n \n \n \n \n \n Booking\n \n Complete the booking form
