Atlas Advent Appeal: Breaking the Cycle of Hunger and Violence

We’ve dedicated December to raising funds for Virreyes Rugby Club. While, for many, this is a season for joy, a surplus of nutrient rich food and family; the children we outreach in Virreyes have no such luxury. Virreyes Rugby Club is an essential pillar of support in the heart of Buenos Aires’ slums. For over a decade, Virreyes has been a sanctuary for families in need. This incredible club has used rugby as a tool to break the cycle of poverty, gang violence, and hardship, providing young people and their families with a brighter future.

The harrowing fact is, children in the poorest conditions of Argentina are feeding from landfills. The Atlas Foundation has partnered with Virreyes Rugby Club to support these children in severe poverty.

Virreyes RC offers:

🍽️ Hot meals and breakfast to fuel young minds and bodies.

🏫 Academic support and school supplies to open doors to brighter futures.

⚕️ Healthcare access, including dental, vision, and medicine, to ensure every child has the chance to thrive.

🎉 Moments of joy, like a simple birthday cake, for children who deserve to feel celebrated.

  • £30 … equips a child with rugby boots, offering them a safe and healthy outlet.

Why Now?

Nearly 40% of Argentinians live in poverty, with food insecurity at its highest levels in decades. Families in the Villas face skyrocketing costs and dwindling opportunities. Without immediate help, more children will fall victim to hunger and violence.

Contrast the harsh realities of home to the safe haven that Virreyes Rugby Club provides. From green fields and donated kits to the simple joy of being a child again, the environment they create is nothing short of extraordinary- it evidences the incredible progress that can be made when people chose to donate and take action.

But this vital work relies on your support. With inflation soaring and poverty rates climbing, your donations are now more critical than ever.

Right now, Virreyes Rugby Club is transforming lives, one child at a time. Join this movement for positive change and make a lasting impact before 2024 draws to a close.

This Christmas, let’s reflect on what we can give, not what we have. A small gesture of generosity can ripple through an entire community, providing stability and hope to those who need it most.
