Agnes’ Story

Two years ago, Agnes joined LSO with a dream. Today, she stands as a shining example of how hope and opportunity can transform lives.

Agnes comes from Msambweni Coast, Kenya, a place known for its stark contrasts between wealth and poverty. Many areas in face significant challenges, including poverty, limited access to education, and gender-based violence. Despite these obstacles, Agnes has defied the odds, proving that with the right support, young women can break free from cycles of hardship and build a brighter future.

Now on a full Rugby High School scholarship and recently called up to the National Team training squad, Agnes is breaking barriers and inspiring her community. During school holidays, she earns a player-coaching income with LSO, helping support her family. Her wonderful mum and sister even cook meals for LSO training sessions, ensuring the whole team feels the warmth of home.

Our project partner, Little Sports Kenya, strives to create opportunities for women and girls to excel, lead, and thrive. We help secure scholarships for better education and empower mums to start businesses, giving them the tools to take control of their lives.

Since 2008, Little Sports has educated over 274,000 children through weekly school sports & life skill programs, keeping them engaged for years. Our Pathways coach development program brings international coaches to uplift local coaching talent, growing the game from grassroots to elite levels. We have trained & employed over 1,000 coaches, empowering them, their families, and communities with income that supports school fees and fosters dignity.

Agnes and her family’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together.
