Following our successful cycle from London to Paris in October 2023 and our Thames River path trek last September – with 25 of us walking or running a total of 1,334 km in one day – Scotland’s beautiful highlands awaits BPF’s next charity challengers! Join us for an unforgettable team hike in Lairig Ghru… It’s OK, we’re also still learning how to pronounce it but we do know it’s the most iconic of mountain passes in Scotland, deep in the heart of the Cairngorms with breathtaking scenery.
For Felix, childhood wasn’t always filled with play and friendship. Born with albinism, he faced heartbreaking prejudice—other children refused to play with him, believing harmful misconceptions about his condition.
But when his father encouraged him to join Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s rugby programme, everything began to change.
Joining BPF’s founder Richard Bennett and leading our 2025 Highland Hiking Charity Challenge is ESMS Junior School teacher, Duncan Macdonald. A hiking/orienteering enthusiast and proud father of two, Duncan took on a different set of Scottish munros for BPF last year (10 to be exact) while others were taking it one step at a time along the Thames river path in London. Passionate about Malawi, Duncan also runs a partnership with a school in the country.
After my hike in the Highlands last year, Richard suggested the idea of a follow-up team challenge in 2025… My legs were still recovering so I wasn’t expecting to say “great idea, let’s go for it” in response! Having visited BPF’s community centre in Malawi and met some of the NGO’s staff and coaches there, I really am delighted to be connecting with BPF in such a big way this year.
I know the Cairngorms area well so it’s going to be fantastic to share my passions for hiking and supporting youth sport for development programs in Malawi. I so look forward to teaming up with a great group of walkers in September!
