The Children of the KRDA project have gone home with cleaner teeth and new habits after a visit from Mobile Smiles, which brought dental care directly to the community.
For many children, a trip to the dentist is simply not available. By bringing Mobile Smiles to KRDA, dental professionals carried out check-ups and treated children who needed it the most. The team offered more than just treatment. Throughout the day, 325 children received dental care.
Today’s dental clinic was a truly special experience. Seeing the children receive quality dental care, learn about oral hygiene, and leave with a smile was incredibly rewarding. We’re grateful to Mobile Smiles for giving their time and making such a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.
Prevention
Education at The Atlas Foundation is a core pillar of what we do. The team at Mobile Smiles taught the children how to brush properly, how often to brush, and how different food and drinks affect their teeth. The sessions were interactive, and brought vital information to the children of KRDA in how to care for their dental health.
In addition, each child received their own toothbrush and toothpaste, so they can put what they had learned into practice. For families where the basics are hard to afford, this was priceless.
Alongside treatment, the team focused on stopping problems before they begin. Each child received fluoride applications, a quick and easy way to strengthen their dental health. Care like this has a lasting effect, reducing the long-term chance for pain, infection, and ultimately missed school days later on.
