The Atlas Foundation Returns to the Atlas Mountains

From 25th – 28th September, a group of our Trustees and supporters embarked on the 2025 Atlas Trek to Morocco, successfully summiting Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at an impressive 4,167m above sea level. Their climb not only tested endurance but also raised vital funds to support vulnerable children around the world.

There is still time to support the Morocco trek!

The Journey

On the morning of the 26th, the team set off toward the rugged Atlas Mountains for their two-day trek. After a demanding climb, they spent the night at the Mouflon Refuge (3,200m) before making a dawn ascent to the summit. Following obligatory photos at the peak, the team began the long descent, returning to their riad for a well-earned dinner.

Who They're Helping

Every step our trekkers took was in support of disadvantaged children facing poverty, trauma, and unimaginable hardship. The funds raised will help provide essential resources and opportunities to transform young lives across the globe.

Aisha’s Story

Eight-year-old Aisha grew up in Kibera, Africa’s largest urban slum, where hunger and loss defined her childhood. Orphaned and living with her ailing grandmother, she often went to bed hungry, too weak to learn or play.

Everything changed when social worker Irene Kirui from the Kings Rugby Development Academy (KRDA) found Aisha and enrolled her in KRDA’s Feeding Programme. With regular, nourishing meals, Aisha regained her strength, laughter, and hope.

Today, she thrives in school, makes new friends, and dreams of becoming a doctor. Her story is a powerful reminder that when a child’s most basic needs are met, hope can flourish, even in the hardest places.

A Reflection From Our Youngest Trekker

The trek was the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken, and an experience I will never forget.

It was clear that everyone was passionate about Atlas and the message it represents. Reaching the summit was non-negotiable. It was brutal, but witnessing the sunrise from the mountain is something I will cherish forever.

Before the trek, I had only met one person in the group. Yet, as soon as we set off, it became clear that everyone was there for each other. I immediately felt part of a team, all pushing together in the same direction.

One of the greatest lessons I took, as the youngest participant, is understanding what it truly means to dig deep to achieve your goal. Jason Leonard and many others in the group showed remarkable mental strength, which was truly inspiring.

Thank you, Atlas, for an unforgettable experience.
