On 6 September, a group of determined hikers, spanning all ages and backgrounds, took on the rugged beauty of Scotland’s highlands. Together, they trekked an impressive 19 miles through the iconic Lairig Ghru pass, all in support of a remarkable cause: raising vital funds for The Atlas Foundation’s local partner, Bhubesi Pride Foundation (BPF).
Thanks to their combined efforts, over £28,000 has already been raised to support BPF’s transformative work in Malawi – but there is still time to make a difference.
Changing the Lives of Children in Malawi
Bhubesi Pride Foundation works with disadvantaged children in rural Lilongwe, Malawi, providing children with a chance to overcome the severe challenges they face and uplift themselves and their community.
At their sports and community centre, children learn and embody the organisation’s PRIDE values of Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Enjoyment.
Through sports, mentorship, and community support, BPF empowers children to work hard to rise to the economic, social, and health challenges that are sadly a part of daily life.
Who The Hiker's Walked For
For Felix, childhood wasn’t always filled with play and friendship. Born with albinism, he faced heartbreaking prejudice – other children refused to play with him, believing harmful misconceptions about his condition.
But when his father encouraged him to join Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s rugby programme, everything began to change.
The work the charity does is phenomenal. They make such a difference. Bringing people together in one place spreads the word of the charity and gets people committed to helping this wonderful cause.
