We are thrilled to announce that our Mixed Ability Rugby initiative has been chosen as a beneficiary of the Try For Good campaign, a collaboration between ActiveOps and GB7s. This incredible opportunity not only brings greater visibility to our project but also provides a chance to take it to the next level.
What’s Happening?
As part of the Try For Good campaign, we will have the opportunity to run a Mixed Ability Rugby session attended by both the GB7s male and female teams. The session will be filmed, and the resulting content will be used as promotional material to showcase the power of inclusive sport through the Try For Good platform.
In addition, for every try scored by GB7s during the HSBC SVNS Singapore event, a donation will be made to support our project. This generous initiative means that every point scored will directly contribute to the growth and sustainability of our Mixed Ability Rugby programme.
Why This Matters
Mixed Ability Rugby uses the values of rugby—teamwork, respect, and inclusion—as tools to empower young people. By creating safe and inclusive spaces where children of all abilities can come together, the programme promotes empathy, understanding, and confidence.
The Try For Good campaign’s support means that we can continue to expand this vital work, reaching more schools and giving even more children the chance to experience the joys of rugby while learning valuable life skills.
Rosie’s Perspective: Growing the Community
“Mixed Ability Rugby started as a small aspirational idea to support inclusion and growth using rugby as our catalyst for lessons that would go far beyond the rugby pitch. The opportunity offered to us from ActiveOps and GB7s’ Try For Good campaign allows us to widen our community. With the foundations in place and the support from this campaign, we can continue to nurture the project.”
Rosie’s words reflect the heart of our mission—using rugby to break down barriers and promote inclusion. Through the support of ActiveOps and GB7s, we will be able to strengthen our outreach and engage even more young people.
Ben’s Perspective: Breaking Down Barriers
“We started our Mixed Ability Rugby Programme as a pilot three years ago, and it has grown to become a regular part of the curriculum in the schools we work with. It has been amazing to see the amount of enjoyment the children from both special needs schools and mainstream schools take from the project. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
You can see how much the children enjoy the experience, and we hope that by extending rugby—such a powerful team sport—into these schools, we are giving children the opportunity to participate, gain the benefits of a team environment, and interact with peers from different backgrounds. We hope they not only have fun but also learn a great deal, breaking down barriers between kids in the special needs sector and those in mainstream schools.”
Ben’s reflections capture the spirit of Mixed Ability Rugby—building confidence, building understanding, and creating lasting friendships between children from diverse backgrounds.
Looking Ahead
We are incredibly excited about this partnership and the possibilities it brings. The exposure from the filmed session, combined with the financial support generated through the tries scored by GB7s, will allow us to push our Mixed Ability Rugby project forward in ways we could have only dreamed of.
Stay tuned for updates on our journey with Try For Good and the positive impact this partnership will have on our young participants. Together, we are breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive future—one try at a time.
