A New Partnership with Far & Wild Travel: Creating Brighter Futures Through Education

The Atlas Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with Far & Wild Travel and our local partner, Little Sports Organisation Kenya. Together, we are supporting disadvantaged children in Mombasa, Kenya, to access safe, high-quality education, giving children a genuine chance to break the cycle of poverty and the opportunity to thrive.

Education is one of the three pillars on which The Atlas Foundation was founded, and this partnership reflects our long-standing belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for social change. Together, we are creating meaningful and lasting change.

Education As A Lifeline Out Of Poverty

In many parts of Mombasa, children attend crowded and under-resourced schools. Class sizes can reach up to 100 pupils, with decrepit facilities, inconsistent teaching, and environments that are often violent. These conditions significantly limit children’s ability to learn and realise their potential.

Through our partnership, Far & Wild Travel is funding two full scholarships for girls supported by LSO to attend Little Stars Academy for two years. Little Stars Academy offers smaller class sizes, safe learning spaces, and access to facilities such as clean sanitation; all critical for positive educational outcomes.

Celebrating International Day Of Education

Education is a human right, a public good, and a shared responsibility. Yet globally, the reality remains stark:

  • Around 244 million children and adolescents are out of school
  • 617 million cannot read or perform basic mathematics
  • In sub-Saharan Africa, fewer than 49% of girls complete lower secondary education

These figures represent not just missed opportunities, but violations of children’s fundamental rights.

On International Day of Education, this partnership stands as a reminder that targeted, collaborative action can change lives by offering children a ladder out of poverty.

Voices From The Recipients: The Impact In Their Own Words

Shanepriya is part of the LSO family, where she discovered a love for rugby and developed confidence, discipline, and respect for others. Despite her determination, her previous school environment made learning extremely difficult. The scholarship to Little Stars Academy now offers her the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream without fear.

I do not like my school because the teachers do not teach us well. They do not treat our parents well. The teachers rarely come to class. I believe going to Little Stars Academy will help me achieve my dreams. I know I will get a better education at Little Stars Academy, better food and there are toilets there!.

Shanepriya

This Scholarship is a great opportunity not only for her but also for me. Life has become really hard, and I had thought of relocating back to the village since I have been unable to pay rent and Shanepriya’s school fees. With this scholarship, I can now stay in Mombasa and continue getting small jobs.

Salma has also flourished at LSO’s program, gaining confidence, learning to respect her peers, and gaining life skills. Moving to Little Stars Academy gives her access to a learning environment that supports her well-being as well as her education

LSO has really helped me grow into who I am today. I love playing rugby and learning new things. At Little Stars Academy, children are not beaten. Little Stars Academy has better and healthier meals… (they) will provide me with a better education.

Salma

LSO has opened doors for my daughter. The scholarship to Little Stars Academy will be very important to my daughter because it will brighten her future and make her a better person in society.

Early Impact And Lasting Change

Shanepriya and Salma have already begun attending Little Stars Academy.

Both girls are settling in confidently, showing early improvements in their academic performance, and arriving at school each day with beaming smiles, thriving in this new environment.

We are deeply grateful to Far & Wild Travel for making this transformative partnership possible.
