Ulises Journey with Virreyes Rugby Club

Ulises joined Virreyes Rugby Club when he was just five years old. Rugby was a completely new world for him, he didn’t know how to hold a rugby ball, didn’t understand the game, and would often stand still on the field watching the game around him.

Over time, with the support of his coaches, teammates and the Club, his journey was transformed. Virreyes welcomed him, stood by him, understood and respected his pace. He now had a space where he felt included, heard and valued.

Today, Ulises, now a core player in the U13 team, looks forward every Saturday to return to the Club. For Ulises, rugby has become much more than a sport. It is a place of belonging, support and personal growth.
His story reflects the deepest purpose of Virreyes: to walk alongside every child, include them, and show the sport has the power to change lives.
